The Velykomosti Community Honors the Memory of Ihor Vesnii, a Hero of Ukraine
It has been three years since the Velykomosti community lost its Defender, Hero, a person with a great heart — Ihor Vesnii.
Ihor was born on July 27, 1979, in the village of Boyanets. He followed the path of a hardworking, honest, principled man: he studied at the Boyanets school, later in Velyki Mosty. In 2001, he graduated from the Dubliany Agrarian University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He supplemented his knowledge with economic courses.
He worked at the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in the Lviv region. He was a deputy in the Boyanets village council, headed the gas committee, thanks to which gas was provided to his native village. All his life — by the side of people, for people, with kindness and sincerity in his heart.
Service and Heroism of Ihor Vesnii
In 2000, he started a family. In 2012, his daughter Marta was born — his pride and love.
Ihor was a patriot not in words, but in actions. From 2015 to 2017, he fought in the East as a participant in the ATO. And when in February 2022, the full-scale invasion began, he without hesitation stood again with the Defenders of Ukraine.
The Defender served among the border service inspectors “Stanytsia Luhanska” of the Luhansk Border Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhenii Pikus. He participated in the fiercest battles. On April 16, 2022, he died near the settlement of Nove in the Donetsk region.
His body was difficult to retrieve — it was only identified on October 4 during the exhumation of mass graves…
Awarding and Honoring the Memory
Posthumously, Senior Soldier Ihor Vesnii was awarded the Order of “For Courage” III degree — for heroism, self-sacrifice, loyalty to the oath, and the Ukrainian people.
Dear Hero, you left not only pain and tears — you left a light that does not fade. The light of love, kindness, and selflessness. Heroes do not die — they remain alive in our hearts. Eternal memory to you, Ihor. Thank you for Ukraine.
