The Drohobych community lost another Hero in the war with the Russian invader – Oleh Hilzhynskyi, a resident of Drohobych, died while defending Ukraine from the enemy.
The warrior was born on 30 May 1998. He lived in Drohobych on Sambirska Street. He studied at Drohobych Lyceum No. 1, then at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Radio Engineering.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Oleh quit his job as an engineer and stood up for Ukraine in the ranks of the TRO. He participated in the battles for the liberation of Kyiv region. Later, he joined the 47th Magura Brigade.
While performing combat missions in the hottest spots, he showed courage, humanity and engineering skills. He defended Ukraine to his last breath, never leaving his comrades-in-arms without support, saving both people and animals – because he had a very sensitive and sincere heart.
The warrior was killed on 27 February while performing a combat mission and evacuating a wounded comrade-in-arms near the town of Berdychi, Donetsk region.
The deceased Hero is survived by his mother, fiancée Kateryna, who served with Oleh in the same brigade, grandmother and grandfather.
The Drohobych City Council, its Executive Committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych express their sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends and colleagues on the untimely death of our countryman and Hero, Oleh Hilzhynskyi.

The funeral convoy is expected to meet the body of the defender tomorrow, 2 March. The exact time of arrival, parastasis and funeral rites will be announced later.
