Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Roman Bazhan and Mykola Pyrog

On Wednesday, December 27, Lviv will say goodbye to servicemen Roman Bazhan and Mykola Pyrog, who died at the hands of the Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The servicemen’s funeral will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, and at 10:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of defenders

 

Roman Bazhan (10.10.1986-16.12.2023). A native of Lviv.

Studied at secondary comprehensive school #67 and secondary comprehensive school #1 of the city of Lviv. Received higher education at the National Forestry University of Ukraine.

After completing his studies, he worked at a furniture factory, later engaged in private repairs. He was an exceptionally kind, fair, frank and positive person.

Easily found a “common language” with others and made new friends. He was fond of woodworking, making knives, gardening, and beekeeping. He liked to devote time to fishing.

Always openly expressed his civic position, participated in the events during the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the Motherland from the invaders in the ranks of the “Lion” territorial defense battalion. In the future, he defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state as part of the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to his comrades, he was a fighter extremely confident in himself and his actions, selflessly performed combat tasks and was always ready to help.

Roman Bazhan is survived by his parents, wife, two sons, nephews, godchildren and many friends.

 

Mykola Pyrig (May 19, 1987-December 16, 2023).

A native of the city of Sosnivka, Lviv region. Lived in Chervonograd.

Studied at gymnasium No. 1 of the Chervonograd city council of the Lviv region. In 2007, he entered the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after S. Z. Gzhitskyi. After completing his studies, he completed his military service at the 169th educational center “Desna” named after Prince Yaroslav the Wise, later in Bila Tserkva.

In peacetime, he held the position of deputy production manager at Lviv Bread Plant No. 5, later worked at the Evrotek enterprise.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the invaders. After training in Great Britain, he defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state as part of the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Died while performing a combat mission in the Zaporozhye direction.

Mykola Pirog is survived by his parents and twin brothers.
