Lviv will say goodbye to defender Ivan Kolodiychyk tomorrow

On Saturday, 18 May, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Ivan Kolodiychyk, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The soldier will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

He studied at the Boryslav Secondary School No. 4 named after Stefan Kovaliv, then entered the Lviv Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training named after the Heroes of Kruty.

He received his higher military education at the Department of Military Intelligence Training at the Military Academy in Odesa.

He dreamed of working for the Security Service of Ukraine. He was actively involved in sports, especially swimming. According to his family, he was extremely motivated and wanted to be useful for his country.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the occupiers. He defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state as a member of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ivan Kolodiychyk’s colleagues say that he was a leader, fearless and always the first, performing extremely difficult tasks, leading others and taking care of his subordinates.

Hero is survived by his father and three aunts.
