Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Oleksiy Klychuk, Ihor Dubuk and Yuriy Starenkyi

 

On Tuesday, 10 June, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Oleksiy Klichuk, Ihor Dubuk and Yuriy Starenkyi, who were killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

In the morning, at 09:30, a prayer and farewell service will be held at the Church of the Ascension (23 Staroznesenska Street) to the soldier Igor Dubuk.

The funeral service for defenders Oleksiy Klichuk, Ihor Dubuk and Yuriy Starenkyi will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

He studied at Zdolbuniv Lyceum No. 4 of the Zdolbuniv City Council, Rivne Oblast. He graduated as an electric and gas welder at the Kvasyliv Vocational Lyceum.

After graduation, he entered the military service at the 199th Training Centre, and later joined the ranks of the 80th separate Galician Air Assault Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was fond of and dedicated to military service.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he continued to defend Ukraine as part of the 80th Brigade. For conscientious performance of combat missions, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Order “For Courage”, III class, the medal “To the Defender of the Fatherland”, and the award of the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “For Valour”. He performed combat missions in the Mykolaiv and Donetsk directions.

Oleksiy Klichuk is survived by his parents, wife, two sisters and a large family.

He studied at Lyceum No. 57 named after King Danylo of the Lviv City Council. He graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at Lviv Polytechnic National University.

After graduation, he worked in various fields in Lviv. He was fond of computers.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend the state from the Russian occupiers. He performed combat missions to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland in the southern direction in the ranks of the 15th Operational Brigade named after the Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Bohdan Zavada of the Southern Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Ihor Dubuk is survived by his parents, son, brother and wife.

He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University with a degree in Electronic Industry Equipment.

For a long time he worked at the Book Charitable Foundation. He took part in the artistic design of one of the editions of the Ostroh Bible. In recent years, he has been engaged in private entrepreneurship.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought against the Russian invaders as a member of the 53rd separate rifle battalion of the 116th separate mechanised brigade of the 10th Army Corps of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On 4 December, 2023, he was promoted to the rank of junior sergeant. He took part in battles for the “hot spots” of Donetsk region. For personal courage and heroism in the defence of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and for the conscientious performance of combat (special) tasks, he was awarded numerous decorations.

His comrades-in-arms remember Yurii as “a brave and strong-minded warrior who knew how to make difficult but right decisions”. His family noted that “above all, he was a caring and loving father, a beloved husband, a man of light and cheerful disposition, a reliable friend who was always ready to help others”.

Yuriy Starenkyi is survived by his father, wife, son and daughter.
