The sad news shook Drohobych: a local resident, Volodymyr Ilnytskyi, was killed in the war with the Russian aggressor.
The warrior was born on 8 February 1975 in Stebnyk, lived in Drohobych on Sambirska Street. He studied and graduated from secondary school No. 17. Then he received his education and training as a crane operator at the Medenytsia School. He worked as a security guard at Drohobych school No. 17.
With the full-scale invasion, on 29 April this year, he was mobilised into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The defender was a gunner of the 3rd assault squad of the 2nd assault platoon of the 6th assault company of the 2nd assault battalion of the A 0501 military unit.
The soldier was killed while performing combat missions on 18 June near the village of Hlyboke, Kharkiv district.
The defender is survived by his mother, wife and two children.
The Drohobych City Council, its Executive Committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych express their sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends and colleagues on the untimely death of our countryman and Hero, Volodymyr Ilnytskyi.
The time of arrival of the funeral convoy with the body of the fallen defender to his native land will be announced later.
