On Thursday, 30 January, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Mykhailo Korl, who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.

In the morning, at 08:30, a prayer and farewell to the soldier will be held at the Church of St Demetrius of the UGCC in Vynnychky.

The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a citywide funeral ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Mykhailo Korl will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

Biographical note on the defender

Mykhailo Korlo (27.06.1973-21.01.2025) A resident of Lviv.

He lived in the village of Vynnychky, Lviv region.

He studied at the secondary school № 63 in Lviv. Lviv. He graduated from the Secondary Vocational School No. 26 with a degree in car repair of the third category.

He worked at Matvol Private Enterprise for more than ten years, and since 2017 – at Lviv-Plast. He was fond of cars and devoted all his free time to his family.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the 33rd separate mechanised brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the state from the Russian invaders. He fought against the Russian invaders in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, repeatedly saving the lives of his comrades-in-arms by evacuating the wounded. Despite a number of injuries, he continued to defend his homeland.

In 2024, he was awarded the Cross of the Brave Badge of Honour by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for conscientious performance of military duty.

Mykhailo Korl is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons-in-law, a granddaughter, a sister and a mother-in-law.
