Drohobychchyna said goodbye to 23-year-old Oleg Shturipitu, who died in Kherson Oblast in March 2022

On October 6, the body of the fallen Hero, a young Drohobych resident Oleg Shturipit, who died while defending Ukraine from the enemy, was brought to his hometown.

Oleg graduated from the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny and was sent to serve. As part of his unit, he was sent to the war zone.

The 23-year-old from Drohobychna defended Ukraine as part of the HV A-0667. He was the deputy commander of the company for moral and psychological support.

Unfortunately, Oleg died on March 30, 2022, near the settlement of Oleksandrivka, Kherson region. He was considered missing for a long time. Only now was it possible to identify the soldier’s body and bring it to his native land. He would have turned 24 this year.

Hero’s family members include his father, two grandmothers, and a grandfather.

Today, the coffin with the Hero’s body was brought to his hometown. The funeral convoy was traditionally met at the Crossroads of Heroes. From there, the hearse with the soldier’s body was taken to Rynok Square, where a city-wide farewell was held with the participation of clergymen, community leaders, military personnel, relatives and caring residents.

After saying goodbye to the deceased on Rynok Square, the funeral ceremony began in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

The Hero will be buried on the Walk of Fame.
