Drohobych Community Bids Farewell to Fallen Ukrainian Defender Oleksandr Stanyev

In recent days, Oleksandr Stanyev lost his life defending Ukraine from the enemy. Originally from Donetsk region, he had been living in Drohobych with his family since the start of the full-scale invasion. Today, December 13, the fallen defender’s body was brought to Drohobych, where he will be laid to rest at the cemetery on Pylypa Orlyka Street.

Oleksandr Stanyev was born on February 14, 1994, in the city of Bakhmut. He lived there until 2022, when he and his family moved to Drohobych, residing on Volodymyra Velykoho Street.

On October 8, 2024, Oleksandr voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a rifleman in the motorized infantry unit of the 59th Brigade, military unit A1619.

He died on December 6, 2024, near the village of Novotroitske in the Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region during a combat mission under artillery fire.

Oleksandr leaves behind his wife and four children.

Today, Drohobych welcomed its fallen hero at the Heroes’ Intersection, where relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms, local officials, and community members gathered to honor his sacrifice. After the meeting, the funeral procession proceeded to the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God Church on Volodymyra Velykoho Street for the funeral rites.

Oleksandr will be buried at the cemetery on Pylypa Orlyka Street.
