The history of Superhumans Center patients: Valentyn Vodolazsky came under fire during evacuation

Valentyn Vodolazskyi dreams of returning to his own farm and continuing to grow crops with his family.

The story of the Superhumans Center patient and his journey to his dream began on March 21, 2022, when Valentine was injured during an evacuation. He, together with his 80-year-old mother and brother, lived in the town of Popasna, in the Luhansk region. They grew vegetables, grapes, raspberries and planned to expand the farm.

“We have been at war since 2014, shelling is regular, so we did not force the departure. I thought I would first go to Bakhmut by myself, get settled, and then take my relatives. However, when the massive shelling of the city began, we decided that we would leave together. The meeting place was actually in an open area and I went first,” the man recalls.

At that moment there was nowhere to hide. At some point, Valentin felt a shock, realized that his left leg was not moving. The brother bandaged his wound with materials at hand. The bus arrived, it was full of people.

“I was simply put on the floor by my feet, there was nowhere else to go,” Valentin shares his memories.

Valentin lost his left leg, he and his family were sent to a modular town for internally displaced persons in Lviv. The man applied to various prosthetics programs and the Superhumans Center chose him for treatment in Germany.

“The specialists here are very scrupulous, measurements down to the millimeter. I can already walk 1 kilometer every day. Thank you sincerely for everything you do,” says Valentin.

Now he is undergoing rehabilitation, waiting for the deoccupation of his native city and the Victory of Ukraine!
