Yevhen is 35 years old. The man is from Kyiv. In the first days after the full-scale invasion of the Russians, he joined the army.
The serviceman became a volunteer on the days when the Russians fired rockets at Poznyaki. Yevhen’s family woke up in a panic from the sound of the plane’s arrival. This forced the man to evacuate his family to a safer place, and he himself went to the Military Commissariat.
At the end of May, Yevhen joined the ranks of the 24th OMBr named after King Danylo. During the fierce fighting in Luhansk region, he was wounded in the area of Komyshuvakha settlement.
“In the morning of that day, I handed over the duty post. I am sitting near the dugout, waiting for the tea to heat up on the burner. Suddenly I hear a whistle overhead, but I don’t immediately understand what happened. Later, the comrades said that we were being attacked by the Russians, or rather by the “Akhmatians”. They approached our positions. One of them pointed a PKM (Kalashnikov machine gun – ed.) at me. Before that, I was telling the guys how to shoot with an RPG-7B. That’s why I have this grenade launcher loaded and lying nearby. The enemy stood behind the dugout and saw me only half. So I grabbed the RPG and fired it. Hit it right. Concussed me a little. Then the battle began, probably for 2 hours. As a result of the fight, I saw that I had a wound in my leg: a through wound, the muscle was torn. A month of treatment, a month of rehabilitation. And then he returned to the front,” says Yevhen.
Now Yevhen continues to defend our state, in the hottest area of hostilities, near Bakhmut. The defender does not lose faith and conveys congratulations to his father, who recently had an anniversary.
“I want to convey my congratulations to Father Mykola Mykhailovych. Wishing you good health, happiness, and long life. He just turned 70 years old, it just so happened that he could not congratulate, because we have no communication positions here. And to my mother, sister, wife and children – also, so that you don’t worry – I love you very much, I will be there soon, I look forward to meeting you!”
