Belzshchyna is in mourning again…
We are saddened to announce the death of our fellow countryman, a resident of the village of Khlivchany, Matkovskyi Vasyl Ivanovych, born in 1998.
Vasyl Matkovskyi, a defender from the Belzka community, was killed in Donetsk region
Hero Vasyl Matkovskyi was called up for military service in November 2023 and died on 9 January 2024, while performing a combat mission, defending his homeland near the village of Novomykhailivka, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region.
Since January this year, the soldier was considered missing, only now the family of the Hero has received confirmation of the identification of their son, – the sad news was reported by the Belga City Council.
We express our sincere condolences to the mother Svitlana, father Ivan, sister Iryna, and all the family and friends of the fallen Hero. May God take his soul to the Heavenly Legion and help his family to survive the terrible loss.
The funeral of the Hero Vasyl Matkovskyi will take place tomorrow, 17.10.2024, in his native village of Khlivchany. The cortege with the body of the Hero will leave Lviv at 10:00 a.m., arriving in Velyki Mosty at approximately 11:00 a.m. We will meet the Hero in the village of Khlivchany (from the side of the pier) at approximately 12:00 p.m.
We ask the community to support the soldier’s family and pay tribute to his heroism by accompanying him to his final resting place.
