In Lviv region, a Frenchman tried to smuggle drugs across the border, which he attached to his body with a plaster

A foreigner attached a drug “potion” to his body with a plaster – a border guard dog reacted

Border guards of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment, with the help of a sniffer dog, found hashish on a foreigner heading to the Ukrainian capital.

The 59-year-old French citizen was travelling by train “Przemyśl-Kyiv”. During the control, a sniffer dog trained to search for narcotic substances was triggered.

During the inspection, the joint border and customs inspection group found a package with 13 grams of an unknown substance. According to the foreigner, the substance was a narcotic cannabis product. The foreigner intended to transport the “dope” for personal use. To deceive the dog’s sense of smell, the man hid the package under cotton wool, on which he had poured lavender, and then put a plaster bandage on top of it and attached it to his body.

The detachment’s operatives reported the incident to the relevant law enforcement agencies.

Responsibility for this offence is stipulated by Art. 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors or counterfeit medicines”.

In total, border guard sniffer dogs helped to detect almost 13 kg of drugs in Lviv region this year.
