Today, Drohobych said goodbye to the fallen defender of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornuta

Today, the Drohobytsk community is in mourning again. A funeral convoy with the body of the fallen Hero – Defender of Ukraine Oleksandr Kornuti arrived in the city.

The defender was born on April 17, 1968 in the Kharkiv region. After marriage, he lived in Drohobych on Ozernaya Street. He worked at the “Halychyna” industrial complex.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Alexander joined the ranks of the defenders. He was a junior sergeant. He served as a senior master grenade launcher in the A-4722 military unit.

He passed through Bakhmut and other hot spots of the front, was wounded, but stood in defense of Ukraine to the last.

A soldier died on December 6 in the Pokrovsky direction of the front in Donetsk region, performing combat tasks for the defense of Ukraine.

 

The deceased Hero is survived by his wife, three children, a sister, a brother, and nephews.

Today, the funeral convoy with the defender’s body arrived in Drohobych. Traditionally, the procession was met at the Crossroads of Heroes, where a short memorial service was held. After that, the hearse with the defender’s body was taken to Rynok Square, where a city-wide farewell was held.

Relatives, close friends, comrades-in-arms, the community leadership and all those who care, honored the memory of the fallen soldier who gave his life for Ukraine. A city-wide prayer was held on the square, accompanied by clergymen, after which the procession headed to the Holy Trinity Cathedral for the funeral ceremony.

The soldier will be buried on the Alley of Glory.
