Today, on January 29, the Drohobych community honored two of its sons who gave their lives for Ukraine: 24-year-old Yuriy Shpuk from Drohobych and 36-year-old Yaroslav Hubitsky from Stebnyk. Today, the soldiers will be laid to rest.
The sad news was reported by the Drohobych City Council.
The two fallen defenders met at the Crossroads of Heroes. Here, accompanied by clergymen, a short memorial service was held with the participation of relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms, the leadership of the Drohobych community and all those who cared.
From the intersection, the mourning convoys headed for different routes. The convoy with the body of the defender Yuriy Shpuk headed to Drohobych, where a citywide farewell was held on Rynok Square.
Later, the coffin with the body was taken to the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where the funeral service will take place. The Hero will be buried on the Walk of Fame.

Yuriy Shpuk went to war as a volunteer. He was a senior sniper of the A-2582 military unit. He died while performing combat missions to defend Ukraine on September 3, 2023 in the Pologiv district of Zaporizhzhia region. For a long time, he was considered missing. Only now the death of the soldier has been officially confirmed and the body of the Hero will be able to find eternal rest.
The deceased is survived by his parents, sister and aunt.
Yaroslav Hubitskyi was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in January 2023. He served in the 80th Brigade of the 10th Air Assault Company, military unit A-0284. While performing combat missions to defend Ukraine, the soldier received numerous injuries, which ended his life in a hospital in Dnipro.
The deceased warrior is survived by his parents, wife, son and brother.

Сьогодні, 29 січня, Дрогобицька громада зустріла двох своїх синів, які віддали життя за Україну: 24-річного дрогобичанина Юрія Шпука та 36-річного стебничанина Ярослава Губіцького. Сьогодні воїнів проведуть в останню путь.
Зустріч обох полеглих захисників відбулась на Перехресті Героїв. Тут, під супроводом священнослужителів, провели коротку панахиду, за участі рідних, близьких, побратимів, керівництва Дрогобицької громади та всіх небайдужих.
З перехрестя траурні конвої попрямували за різними маршрутами. Конвой з тілом захисника Юрія Шпука попрямував до Дрогобича, де на площі Ринок провели загальноміське прощання.
Згодом домовину з тілом повезли до храму Успіння Пресвятої Богородиці, де відбудеться чин похорону. Поховають Героя на Алеї Слави.
Конвой з тілом захисника Ярослава Губіцького попрямував до Стебника, де на майдані Шевченка відбулось загальноміське прощання. Чин похорону проведуть в церкві Різдва Пресвятої Богородиці. Поховають Героя на кладовищі по вулиці Мекелити.
Юрій Шпук пішов на війну добровольцем. Був старшим стрільцем-снайпером вч А-2582. Загинув під час виконання бойових завдань з захисту України 3 вересня 2023 року в Пологівському районі Запорізької області. Тривалий час його вважали безвісти зниклим. Лиш тепер загибель воїна офіційно підтвердили і тіло Героя зможе знайти вічний спочинок.
З рідних у загиблого залишились батьки, сестра, тітка.
Ярослав Губіцький був призваний до лав ЗСУ в січні 2023 року. Проходив службу у 80-ій бригаді 10 десантно-штурмової роти вч А-0284. Під час виконання бойових завдань з захисту України, воїн отримав численні поранення, внаслідок яких його життя обірвалось у госпіталі Дніпра.
З рідних у загиблого воїна залишились батьки, дружина, син, брат.
