Today, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Andrii Gudyma and Vasyl Kardash

On Thursday, July 6, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Andrii Gudyma and Vasyl Kardash, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Andrii Gudyma (23.08.1979-02.07.2023) was born in the Slovak Republic. Later, the family moved to Lviv.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 27 of the city of Lviv named after the hero of the Heavenly Hundred, Yury Verbytskyi. He was educated at the Lviv National Academy of Arts with a specialty of “artist-restorer”, and later graduated from the Law Faculty of the Lviv University of Trade and Economics.

After completing his studies, he worked as a restaurateur, also wrote literature and was a photo editor in one of the local media.

Andrii Gudyma joined the ranks of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland.

The Hero is survived by his parents, daughter and brother, who also defends the country as part of the Armed Forces.

Vasyl Kardash (July 7, 1986-July 3, 2023) was born in the village of Kudyryavtsi, Lviv region.

He studied at the Novosilkiv institution of general secondary education of the I-II degrees of the Lviv region. He was educated at the Law Faculty of the Lviv Cooperative Vocational College of Economics and Law.

With the beginning of Russian aggression, he performed combat tasks in the area of the anti-terrorist operation as part of the 3rd operational brigade named after Colonel Petro Bolbochan of the Eastern operational-territorial unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. In 2017, he joined the ranks of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

By decree of the President of Ukraine in 2022, he was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree.

Vasyl Kardash is survived by his parents.
