Today, Lviv says goodbye to Hero Daniel Whitney Swift, who defended Ukraine from the invaders

Tomorrow, January 31, Lviv will say goodbye to Daniel Whitney Swift, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. Farewell to the deceased will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Latin Cathedral (Catedralna Square, 7), and at 10:45 a city farewell ceremony on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried in the USA.

The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

We would like to remind you that tomorrow, January 31, the funeral of Heroes Mykhailo Chingary and Bohdan Derkach will take place, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul (Tetralna St., 11). At 2:30 p.m. – a city farewell ceremony on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Daniel Whitney Swift (03/06/1987-01/19/2023). Born in Medford, Oregon, USA.

A fighter in the special forces military unit of the United States Navy, better known as “Seals”. Took direct part in military campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

While in Oregon, he worked as a police officer.

During his service, he was awarded the American Legion of Merit. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree by the Decree of the President of Ukraine.

He fought against the Russian occupiers in the ranks of the International Legion under the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Daniel Whitney Swift was a loving son, brother and father of four.
