Every morning at 9:00 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those who have died fighting for the country’s independence during Russia’s aggression.
Today, the Lviv region bids farewell to five defenders who heroically stood for Ukraine:
- Roman Bondar
A native of Lviv. After completing his studies, he served at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Academy of Ground Forces. From the early months of the full-scale invasion, he joined the fight against the occupiers. Initially serving in the Military Law Enforcement Service, he later carried out missions in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. Recently, he served in the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General Marko Bezruchko. For his patriotism, he was awarded the badge “For Exemplary Service.” - Andrii Hnativ
A resident of Lviv who volunteered for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the onset of the full-scale invasion. He served in the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. He participated in battles in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, sustaining injuries twice. - Nazarii Borys
Born in Zymna Voda and residing in Kamianka-Buzka. He held the rank of senior lieutenant in the police and served in the assault regiment “Safari” of Ukraine’s National Police. He died on January 22 as a result of enemy shelling near Toretsk, Donetsk region. - Vasyl Kulyk
A resident of Brody, he served as a helicopter operator in a helicopter squadron. His heart stopped on January 19 due to a severe illness. He was 55 years old. - Ihor Kukla
A native of Sokal. Since 2014, he had been an active volunteer and participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in 2015-2016. In 2022, after the full-scale invasion, he returned from abroad to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He served in the 14th Brigade “Chervona Kalyna” in Vinnytsia.
