Today in Lviv they will say goodbye to three Heroes who defended Ukraine

On Saturday, April 22, Lviv will say goodbye to three Heroes. Mykola Kovalyshyn, Lyubomyr Mazurchak, Serhii Lemets defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of Heroes

 

Lyubomyr Mazurchak (January 25, 1972-April 16, 2023) was born in the city of Peremyshlyany, Lviv region.
He studied at the Peremyshlyansk support institution of general secondary education of the I-III degrees No. 1 of the Lviv region. He graduated from the Lviv Polygraphic Institute (now the Ukrainian Academy of Printing). After completing his studies, he completed military service in the capital, earning the rank of junior sergeant.

In peacetime, he worked as a computer technology operator in the Przemyśl gas management department of JSC Lvivgaz. Subsequently, he held the position of mechanical equipment maintenance master at Lvivoblenergo PJSC.

He was fond of sports, played several musical instruments.

With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the ranks of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. For his personal courage, he was awarded the badge of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine “For Exemplary Service”.

Lyubomir Mazurchak is survived by his parents, wife and three sons.

 

Mykola Kovalyshyn (May 28, 1996-April 19, 2023) from Lviv.
At an early age, he lost his father, who was the liquidator of the Chernobyl disaster.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School of Grades I-III No. 78, after graduating from the 5th grade he entered Lviv Secondary School of Grades I-III No. 43 of the Lviv City Council of Lviv Oblast. He was educated at the former Lviv Professional Lyceum of Food Technologies.

After completing his studies, he worked at the local private enterprise “Dzyga”. In the future, he was engaged in the assembly of goods in the “Rukavychka” and “Silpo” chains.

He was fond of military archeology.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, together with his brothers, he joined the ranks of the 2nd Separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. He fought with the invaders in the eastern direction.

Mykola Kovalishyn is survived by his mother, wife and three brothers.

 

Serhiy Lemets (December 5, 1967-April 15, 2023) from Lviv.
Studied at Lyceum No. 18 of the Lviv City Council. He graduated from the military aviation school. He also received a bachelor’s degree in management and a specialist diploma in organization management and administration.

During the Revolution of Dignity, he was the commander of the Lion Hundred. During the years 2014-2022, he performed combat missions in the ATO/OOS area.

Served as part of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Lived in military affairs. He was in specific regions of the world, had significant experience of interaction with international partners. Engaged in training groups of volunteers.

Actively engaged in sports: rowing on kayaks, football, was a candidate for master of sports. Member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he was on the front lines, was awarded numerous awards, in particular, “For assistance to the military intelligence of Ukraine” of the 2nd degree and the “Honor and Glory” medal of the 2nd degree.

Serhii Lemets is survived by his wife, sister, brother, mother-in-law and two sons, one of whom continues his father’s work.
