In the struggle for integrity, independence and sovereignty, long-suffering Ukraine continues to lose the best of the best. Petro, the man who fought for our freedom on the front line, is now in the heavenly army.
Today, on 11 September, his hometown, family, acquaintances, friends and just caring community members came to meet him to see him off on his last earthly journey.
The mother, sister and her family, wife, daughter, son and all the relatives lost a loved one, and our community and the whole of Ukraine lost a brave warrior, a patriot of their country.
To the accompaniment of an orchestra and the waving of blue and yellow flags, the body of the Hero was brought to the church, where the clergy served a divine liturgy for the repose of the soul of the fallen Hero.
Afterwards, the mourning procession marched to the local cemetery to the place of eternal rest, where a funeral service and farewell to the fallen soldier with full military honours took place.
The soldier handed the mother of the defender the State Flag as a symbol of Ukraine, which Petro faithfully served.
The defender was buried in the cemetery in his hometown of Velyki Mosty.
Father Volodymyr, the rector of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, addressed the Hero’s family with words of support, stressing that Petro had demonstrated by his actions that there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
The priest also addressed all those present with a request not to forget the price our guys are paying so that we can live this day in peace. He called on us to remember the heroic deeds of our heroes through the years.
