Orest Kolyada, a 22-year-old defender from Opilsk in the Sokal region, returned from captivity today

Today, a peaceful rally was held near the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Sokal in support of all missing persons and prisoners of war in the Sokal community.

This was reported by the Sokal City Council.

During this action, when Oksana Kolyada was speaking at the microphone, she was told the news she had been waiting for for more than two years: her son Orest Kolyada had returned from captivity today as part of an exchange.

My mother’s joy was overwhelming… These were incredible emotions, my mother could not believe her happiness, her life’s dream had come true, and she was hugged by all the relatives of other missing persons and prisoners of war.

Orest Kolyada was born on 22 February 2002 in the village of Opilsko. He served in the 35th Assault Brigade as a conscript. He was captured on 30 April 2022 near the village of Vremivka.

Throughout the 28 months of captivity, his mother believed that her son was alive and would soon be home. Yesterday she attended a rally to support the families of missing persons and prisoners of war in Lviv, and today she is in Sokal, where she heard this good news during her speech.

We wish every family to wait for such good news!
