29 August in Stryi, the Day of Remembrance of Ukraine’s defenders who died fighting for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state is being observed. The city has organised memorial and charitable events to honour the fallen soldiers.
As reported by Stryi City Council, at 10:00 a memorial requiem service for those killed in the war will begin at Stryi Cemetery. Relatives, comrades-in-arms and all residents who wish to pay tribute to the fallen defenders are invited to join in prayer.
At 12:00 on Independence Square in Stryi, the charity run “I honour the warriors, I run for the Heroes of Ukraine” will start. Anyone who wishes may take part in it to support the families of the fallen and to remind people of the price Ukraine is paying for freedom.
The City Council stresses that on this day they remember everyone who gave their life for Ukraine and calls on community residents to join the commemorative events.
