In Velikie Mosty, the families of the dead border guards were presented with posthumous awards “For Courage”

The first deputy chief of the Chervonograd RVA, Iryna Nalivayko, together with the deputy chief of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment, Colonel Petro Zhovnych, presented state awards to the families of border guards who laid down their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

For personal courage and selfless actions shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, fidelity to the military oath, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the Order of Courage III degree (posthumously) to Staff Sergeant Roman Zinoviyovych Gvozdetskyi, a native of our community.

In 2012, the young man, following the example of his brother, who at that time was a military officer of the Canine Training Center of the State Border Service, signed a contract for military service in the DPSU. Roman chose the profession of dog trainer. When Russian troops entered Ukraine two years later, the young man was one of the first to defend it.

After the full-scale invasion, Roman continued his service. Roman’s life ended on January 29, 2023, during the defense of one of the positions in Donetsk region. In the last battle in the settlement of Blagodatne, a serviceman took part in assault operations with the aim of restoring temporarily lost positions.
Father Zinova Vasyliovych and mother Halyna Myroslavivna received the award.

Eternal memory to Heroes. An earthly bow to the parents and children of our fallen Heroes.
