Taras Bohdanovich Sivenky (“Syvy”), a 2013 graduate of the Lviv Professional College of Sports, died fighting for Ukraine.

Taras was born in the city of Lviv. From the age of 10, he was fond of running, from the 10th grade he studied at the athletics department of the class at the invitation of the honored coach of Ukraine Mykhailo Stashkiv. In the entrant’s questionnaire, he stated “I like to compete, because life is like a treadmill, on which you learn a lot.” He was a multiple winner of the Lviv Region in the 800-meter running competition among juniors, and also competed at distances of 1,000 and 2,000 meters. He was noted for conscientiousness, discipline, hard work, remarkable intellectual development, was fond of computer science and loved to read.

After studying at the college, he entered the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”, majoring in “Engineering Mechanics”. In 2017, he completed military training at the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny.

He worked as a design engineer at the Limited Liability Company “Biscotti” and the Scientific and Production Enterprise “Sparing-Wist Center”.

On the first day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the Motherland in the ranks of the 45th separate artillery brigade of the Reserve Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of platoon commander, participated in the battles for the liberation of Kherson region, Kharkiv region and Donetsk region. For his personal courage, he was awarded numerous awards, in particular, the “Steel Cross” and “Silver Cross” badge of honor of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He died heroically while performing a combat mission. Taras Syvenky is survived by his parents and sister.

Taras’s father, Bohdan Syvenky, also defends Ukraine in Donetsk region, about whom the international news service BBS news made a big report in January 2023.

Taras will forever be only 27 years old… ETERNAL MEMORY AND GLORY AS A HERO!
