A Young Hero from Yavorivshchyna: The Life and Struggle of Yurii Prus, Fallen at the Front

A tragic loss has shaken the Yavoriv community: Yurii Yuriiovych Prus, a resident of the village of Sopit, was killed in battle against the occupiers.

Yurii was born in the city of Novoyavorivsk but spent his childhood in the picturesque village of Sopit, where he made friends and completed his local school education. After finishing basic secondary education, he decided to pursue a career in construction and enrolled in a vocational school in Rava-Ruska.

A kind-hearted, cheerful, and brave young man, Yurii went abroad after graduation to earn money for himself and his family. However, the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022 compelled him to return to his homeland. He quickly found a job in Lviv, working at car washes, but in August 2024, he made a life-changing decision to join the army voluntarily.

Yurii became a reconnaissance medic in the 80th Separate Assault Brigade, where he distinguished himself through his courage, determination, and dedication. He fought tirelessly for Ukraine’s freedom, defending the peace and safety of his country. Tragically, he was killed on January 16 this year during an enemy attack. He was only 21 years old.

The community mourns Yurii deeply and extends heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. The memory of this young hero will live on forever.

The cortege with his body will be met tomorrow in the first half of the day. The exact time and location will be announced later.
