During the hostilities in eastern Ukraine, Volodymyr Zaitsev, a resident of Stebnyk, who defended the country on the frontline, was killed. He was born on May 5, 1988, in Truskavets, graduated from Stebnyk secondary school No. 6, and studied at the local vocational lyceum. In 2007, he completed his service at a military unit in Dnipropetrovsk. After his service, he worked as a cashier in the ‘Ahrokontrakt’ and ‘Rukavychka’ retail chains, where he was known as a friendly and considerate person.
Volodymyr Zaitsev was a senior rifleman-operator in a rifle unit of military unit A4123. He tragically died on February 20, 2025, while performing a mission near the settlement of Zhuravka in the Sumy region. He is survived by his mother.
The Drohobych City Council expressed condolences to the warrior’s family and friends. The mourning convoy will arrive on February 24 at 1:00 PM at the Heroes’ intersection and will proceed to Shevchenko Square for farewell at 1:30 PM. The funeral rite will begin at 2:30 PM at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, and the hero will be buried at the Mekelita Street cemetery.
