The Drohobych community said goodbye to the defender Taras Kovalyshyn

Taras lived in Drohobych on Honcharska Street. He graduated from the school №3. He worked as a woodworker, and later was engaged in facade insulation.

As soon as Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukrainian lands began, the resident of Drohobych voluntarily came to the defense of Ukraine in the first days. He performed combat missions to defend Ukraine as part of the 110th Brigade of the TRO, and later – the 103rd Brigade of the TRO. He was the commander of the rifle division of the rifle platoon of the rifle company A7371.

The warrior died on July 29, 2024, near the village of Katerynivka, Sumy region, as a result of artillery shelling.

Taras was a wonderful father, a loyal friend and comrade-in-arms, and a true patriot of his country.

The deceased soldier is survived by his mother, wife and seven children (three of them are siblings).

Today, on August 5, the Drohobych community met the body of the fallen soldier at the Heroes’ crossroads. After a short prayer, the mourning convoy headed to the central Rynok Square, where a citywide farewell was held.

Relatives, friends, colleagues, and the leadership of the Drohobych community knelt to honor the Hero and, accompanied by clergy, prayed for the repose of his soul.

The funeral service began at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The body of the defender of Ukraine will find eternal rest on the Walk of Fame.

Eternal memory to the Hero! Glory to Ukraine!
