The defenders of Ukraine climbed Mount Klyuch in the “Skoliv Beskydy”

Mount Klyuch, with a height of 927 m, is known as the site of the victorious battle of the Ukrainian Sich riflemen over the Russian army in 1914.

This is the second ascent, organized by the Tourism and Resorts Department of Lviv Oblast together with Veterans go, which is designed to support and restore the emotional state of our defenders.

It should be noted that the event took place within the framework of the Concept of support for Defenders and Defenders, which was developed in Lviv OVA. More about the initiative at the link https://loda.gov.ua/project/70266

“During the first campaign, Volodymyr from the 24th brigade was with us and he said that his brothers would also like to take part in the ascent. We heard him. This time there were more than 20 guys with us from different parts of Ukraine and from different military groups, to whom this day gave new impressions, rest and change of mind, as well as a sense of the beauty of our Carpathian Mountains. Therefore, we urge all military personnel, who feel that their brigade or military unit needs the same, to proactively communicate with us, because we are ready to include more and more guys in such campaigns” – emphasized the deputy chief of Lviv OVA Oleksandr Kulepin.

Fighter Andrii Golopapa made his way to the top with a prosthesis he received at the Superhumans Center. The boy lost his left leg due to the landing of a mine on October 25, 2022 near Horlivka. He is grateful to his brothers and doctors for saving his life. The veteran is only 20 years old, originally from Varash, Rivne region. He went to war as a volunteer from the first day. First, Kyiv was defended, then there was the front in the East.

Vasyl Nikorak from Ternopil Oblast, who lost his right lower limb near the village of New York in Donetsk Oblast, used a Juliet chair to climb part of the way.

“The Ascent with Juliet project is a good example of supporting one’s neighbor. In fact, this is an important expression of respect and gratitude to the people who stood up for the defense of the state, sacrificing their health. We plan to continue to organize active leisure for our defenders, because we have good reviews,” said Taras Lozynskyi, head of the tourism and resorts department of the Lviv OVA.

The Department of Tourism and Resorts expresses its gratitude to the partners of the event, in particular for the lunch and support of the “Skolivski Beskydy” NPP, the Mountain Emergency Rescue Service, volunteers from the NGO “Veterans go”, Superhumans Center, as well as “Spodaryk travel restaurant” for organizing a snack.
