Lviv community to say goodbye to three defenders tomorrow

Tomorrow, on 10 December, the community of Lviv will say goodbye to three soldiers. Nazar Sobenko, Andriy Kuzniak and Rostyslav Kostechko defended Ukraine from Russian invaders.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service for defenders Nazar Sobenko and Andriy Kuzniak will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

Nazar Sobenko will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Andriy Kuzniak will be taken to the village of Zhyrivka, and on Wednesday, 11 December, he will be buried at the family home and buried at the local cemetery in Zhyrivka.

The funeral service for the defender Rostyslav Kostechko will begin at 12:00 in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UGCC (Dubliany). The soldier will be buried in the Dubliany cemetery.

Biographical information of the defenders

Nazar Sobenko (25.02.1984-28.11.2024) Lviv resident

Nazar Sobenko (25.02.1984-28.11.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №55 in Lviv. Lviv. He graduated from Lviv University of Trade and Economics with a degree in Commodity Research.

After graduation, he worked in the catering industry. In his spare time, he was fond of football and music.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the 58th separate motorised infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi of the operational command “North” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the state from the occupiers.

Nazar Sobenko is survived by his grandmother, brother and uncle.

Rostyslav Kostechko (11.04.1998-30.11.2024)

Rostyslav Kostechko (11.04.1998-30.11.2024) was born in Lviv.

He studied at the Velykyi Hrybovychi Lyceum and later received a degree in Civil Engineering at the Lviv National University of Environmental Management.

He did his military service in the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynskyi. After returning home, he worked at Silpo-Food Limited Liability Company.

From the first months of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the National Guard of Ukraine to defend the state from the invaders. He performed combat missions in the eastern direction as part of the 2nd separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational and Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Rostyslav Kostechko is survived by his parents, 16-year-old brother, grandparents.

Andrii Kuzniak (31.12.1979-04.12.2024)

Andrii Kuzniak (31.12.1979-04.12.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №91 in Lviv. Lviv. He first studied at the former Vocational School No. 32 and the Lviv Vocational College of Fashion Industry, and later at the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design.

For the past three years, he has worked as an embroidery machine operator at Halychanka LLC. He was fond of drawing and studying the history of Ukraine.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he defended the state as part of the 505th separate battalion of the 37th separate marine brigade of the 30th Marine Corps of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat missions on the southern and eastern directions.

Andrii Kuzniak is survived by his parents, wife, two daughters, sister and nephews.
