Tomorrow, January 29, the Lviv Cathedral will hold a farewell to Vitaly Svintsytskyi, a member of the city council of the last convocation, a participant in the anti-terrorist operation since 2014, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. Hero’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 30. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertaining events and celebrations during this time.

On Sunday, January 29, at 7:15 p.m. farewell to Vitaly Svintsytsky will be held in the Lviv Cathedral (Katedralna Square, 7). And on Monday, January 30, at the same address at 10:00 a.m. the funeral ceremony of the Hero will begin, at 10:45 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. Vitaly Svintsitsky will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

The route of the funeral procession: square Cathedral – square Rynok (city farewell ceremony) – str. Ruska – st. Basement – st. Volodymyr Vinnichenko – square Soborna – st. Pekarska – str. Shimzeriv – st. Mechnikova – Lychakiv cemetery.

Vitaly Svintsitskyi (11.09.1977-25.01.2023)

He was born in a military family.

In 1991, he graduated from Lviv Secondary School No. 62. During 1995-2000, he studied at the technological faculty of the Stepan Zenonovich Gzhitsky Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology. In 2020, he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Pre-University Training of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Participant of the Orange Revolution, actively supported the Maidan during the Revolution of Dignity. In 2014, he went to the East as a volunteer, where he defended the Motherland as part of the 80th separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2015, he returned to civilian life, continued his public and volunteer activities: he founded the social gym for veterans of the ATO “Kupol”, was one of the co-organizers of the local “Sports Festival” and the annual “Active Army Fest” festival.

Deputy of the Lviv City Council of the 7th convocation. Founder of the NGO “Union of Airborne Veterans”, head of the NGO “Civil Society and Power”, president of FC Barylov. Since 2020, he has been the director of Zafrair LLC and the chairman of DoReMi FG.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he joined the ranks of the 80th brigade. Despite the severe wound received in July, he returned to the front after a short treatment. By decree of the President of Ukraine, he was awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree.

Vitaly Svintsitsky is survived by his daughter, wife and parents.
