Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to three Heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine

On Thursday, February 9, Lviv will say goodbye to three more Heroes. Mykhailo Popyk, Vitaly Fedor and Bohdan Baran defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The Heroes’ funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

Therefore, Mykhailo Popyk and Vitaly Fedor will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery. And Bohdan Baran will go to his native village of Dmytro (Lviv region) for his eternal rest.

Biographical references of Heroes

Mykhailo Popyk (15.10.1965-30.01.2023). A native of the village of Mali Baranivtsi, Lviv region.
He studied at the Baranivetskyi institution of general secondary education, grades I-III. Graduated from the Separate Structural Unit “Technical and Economic College of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”.

After completing his studies, he served in the military in the city of Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan).

Engaged in construction business, in particular, worked at the Meblevyk Private Enterprise and the Lviv House Building Plant. In his free time, he was fond of carpentry.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the local territorial defense, actively engaged in volunteering. Subsequently, he joined the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the “West” operational command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Mykhailo Popyk is survived by his mother, sisters and nephews.

Vitaly Fedor (September 3, 1976-February 2, 2023). A native of Lviv.
Studied at secondary comprehensive school of grades I-III No. 78. Subsequently, he obtained vocational and technical education in the city of Lviv. After completing his studies, he served in the military.

In peacetime, he worked in the construction industry, engaged in repairs. He was fond of fishing and cycling.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the ranks of the 103rd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Fought against the terrorist state in the eastern direction.

Vitaly Fedor is survived by his wife, son, daughter, parents and two brothers.

Bohdan Baran (September 25, 1995-February 3, 2023). A native of Dmytro village, Lviv region.
He studied at the Dmytrovy secondary school of grades I-II, Pustomytiv district, Lviv region. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the Higher Educational Institution “Lviv Cooperative College of Economics and Law” majoring in “Finance and Credit”. Subsequently, he obtained a higher education at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.

He was interested in history and jurisprudence. He was fond of football, took an active part in various tournaments. He worked as a sales consultant at “Epicenter K” LLC and “New Line”.

In March 2022, he went to war as a volunteer. He fought against the Russian occupiers in the ranks of the 2nd Separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Bohdan Baran is survived by his mother and sister.
