Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to three fallen defenders of Ukraine

On Monday, 23 September, Lviv will say goodbye to three soldiers who died defending Ukraine – Oleh Dyavoliuk, Taras Lytvyn and Oleksiy Korniyenko.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremonies and to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The farewell to the defenders Oleh Dyavoliuk and Taras Lytvyn will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul, and at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Afterwards, Oleh Dyavoliuk will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery, and the funeral service for Taras Lytvyn will continue at 12:45 in the local church in the village of Myklashiv (Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary). After that, the soldier will be buried at the local cemetery.

The funeral service for Oleksiy Korniyenko will be held at 14:00 in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul, and at 14:30 – a city farewell ceremony on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Biographical information about the defenders

Oleh Dyavoliuk (04.08.1999-09.08.2024) A native of the village of Lahidne (formerly Kirove), Zaporizhzhia region.

Oleh Dyavoliuk (04.08.1999-09.08.2024) was born in the village of Lahidne (formerly Kirove), Zaporizhzhia region.

He studied at a local secondary school. Later, he received vocational training at the former Molochansk Professional Agricultural Lyceum.

After graduating, he started working in the agricultural sector. He was fond of machinery.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Oleh Diavoliuk’s family was forced to leave their home and move to the village of Khorosno, Lviv region. Here, he volunteered to join the 103rd separate territorial defence brigade of the Western Regional Directorate of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleh Diavoliuk is survived by his wife, two children and a large family.

Taras Lytvyn (05.09.1991-29.11.2023) A resident of Lviv.

Taras Lytvyn (05.09.1991-29.11.2023) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the Myklashiv Educational Complex “Secondary school of I-III levels – preschool educational institution”. Subsequently, he studied at the St John Bosco Youth Training Centre, a private institution.

After graduation, he worked in the field of property protection services in Lviv and spent some time abroad. In his spare time, he was fond of music, cycling and travelling, and loved animals. According to his family, he was “an exceptional patriot of his country”.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invaders. He defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the southern direction in the ranks of the 117th separate mechanised brigade of the 10th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Taras Lytvyn is survived by his parents, sister, niece and girlfriend.

Taras Lytvyn (05.09.1991-29.11.2023) A resident of Lviv.

Oleksii Korniienko (30.12.1993-16.09.2024) A native of Myrohoshcha Druha village, Rivne region.

He studied at Myrohoshcha Lyceum of Myrohoshcha Village Council. He graduated from the Myrohoshcha Agricultural College with a degree in Livestock Production and Processing. Subsequently, he entered the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after S.Z. Gzhytskyi.

He worked in the restaurant industry in Lviv. According to his family, Oleksii Korniienko was “a good, loyal friend, a loving husband, brother and son; he was looking forward to the birth of his daughter”. He loved sweets, animals and music. He dreamed of opening his own coffee shop.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the occupiers. He fought the enemy in the ranks of the 1st Donetsk Border Guard Detachment of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Oleksii Korniienko is survived by his mother, pregnant wife and sister.
