Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Svyatoslav-Lyubomir Stepuk and Volodymyr Kushnir

On Tuesday, November 14, Lviv will say goodbye to servicemen Svyatoslav-Lyubomir Stepuk and Volodymyr Kushnir, who died at the hands of the Russian invaders while defending Ukraine.

The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The servicemen’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of defenders

Svyatoslav-Lyubomyr Stepuk (October 1, 1995-November 11, 2023) from Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum No. 46 named after V. Chornovol of the Lviv City Council. He received his education at the Separate Structural Unit “Technical Vocational College of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” majoring in “teleradio mechanics”.

During 2015-2017, he served as part of the Bars special unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. Subsequently, he signed a contract with the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Performed combat tasks in the ATO/OOS area. He constantly worked on improving his individual combat skills, because from an early age he dreamed of becoming a soldier.

After returning to civilian life, he worked in a grocery store. On the eve of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he went to the Czech Republic. In two weeks he returned to the Motherland and voluntarily joined the ranks of the 80th Brigade.

Defended the state in the most diverse directions: on the territory of Donetsk region, Kharkiv region and Mykolaiv region. He was seriously wounded several times, in particular, during the liberation of Izyum. After undergoing the last treatment, he returned to the front line, where he died soon after.

Svyatoslav-Lyubomir Stepuk is survived by two grandmothers, grandfather, mother, sister and family, aunt, uncle, godparents and childhood friends.

 

Volodymyr Kushnir (27.02.1995-09.11.2023) native of Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 13. Graduated from the Separate Structural Unit “Technical and Economic College of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”.

After completing his studies, he worked at Lviv Isolation Limited Liability Company. Subsequently, he was engaged in trade in building materials at a wholesale store. He was fond of fishing, gardening, loved spending his free time in nature and taking care of animals.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the Russian invaders. After training in Great Britain, he performed combat missions in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions as part of the 13th separate airborne assault battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine Colonel Taras Senyuk of the 95th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Kushnir is survived by his mother, aunt, uncle and two cousins.
