Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Volodymyr Pus and Volodymyr Babyuk

On Thursday, August 10, Lviv will say goodbye to two servicemen. Volodymyr Pus and Volodymyr Babiuk defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service of the military will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of defenders

Volodymyr Pus (July 27, 1976-August 4, 2023). A native of Shelpaki village, Ternopil region.

He studied at the Myron Zarytsky Lyceum in Novosil, Ternopil region, and at the same time received a musical education at the Novosil Children’s Music School. He received his higher education at the Ternopil National Pedagogical University.

After completing his studies, he served in the Airborne Assault Forces and played in the military orchestra. Worked abroad in construction.

In 2006, he got married and moved to Lviv. Here he worked as a construction worker in the Company with additional responsibility “Gal-Kat”. In his free time, he was fond of fishing and actively traveled.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the ranks of the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Kostya Gordienko of the operational command “South” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. Subsequently, he performed combat missions in the eastern direction as part of the 68th separate hunting brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the “West” operational command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Pusya is survived by his mother, brother, wife, son and daughter.

Volodymyr Babiuk (April 22, 1979-July 31, 2023). A native of Lviv.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School of Grades I-III No. 91 of Lviv. Received higher education at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. He finished his doctoral studies at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University of Lublin, after which he returned to the Motherland.

He worked at the Lviv subsidiary of the Danish company Sika Footwear A/S. He devoted his free time to fishing and mushroom picking.

With the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the military unit A4821 of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. During his military service, he received the rank of “junior sergeant” and the position of unit commander. Died while performing combat missions in the eastern direction.

Volodymyr Babyuk is survived by his mother, daughter and brother with their family.
