On Friday, 27 September, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Maksym Romaniuk, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.
The mayor’s office calls on residents to join the city’s funeral ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.
The funeral rite will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, followed by a citywide farewell ceremony on Rynok Square.
Maksym Romaniuk will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
The defender’s biographical note
Maksym Romaniuk (24.06.1979-13.04.2024) A resident of Lviv.
He studied at the secondary school №91 in Lviv. Lviv. He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University with a degree in Control and Automation Systems and a qualification as a computer systems engineer.
He was an entrepreneur in the construction industry. In his free time, he studied the history of Ukraine. According to his family, he was a caring, loving son and brother, a kind, funny and interesting friend. He had a strong civic position and took part in the events during the Revolution of Dignity.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the territorial defence. He performed combat missions in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions in the ranks of the 125th separate territorial defence brigade of the regional directorate “West” of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was recognised for personal courage by the brigade command.
Maksym Romaniuk is survived by his mother, sister and her family, and many friends.
