On Saturday, August 3, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Paweł Wojtech Dombrowski, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.
The mayor’s office calls on residents to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.
The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
The defender’s biographical note
Pavlo-Voitekh Dombrovskyi (30.08.1978-19.07.2024) was born in Turgai region (Republic of Kazakhstan). Later, the Dombrowski family moved to the village of Chernykhiv, Lviv region.
He studied at Chernykhiv Gymnasium, then received vocational education in Rudky. After graduation, he did his military service in Rivne. He then signed a contract with the former 7th Regiment of the 24th Division and served as a technical support warrant officer. He got married while serving in the regiment.
He worked at the Lviv branch of Oschadbank for more than 10 years, and during the same period he also received a master’s degree from the Lviv Institute of Banking. Since 2016, he has worked abroad, in particular in Poland and Lithuania. In his free time, he was fond of fishing and loved vacationing in the Carpathians. According to his family, he was “a man for everyone – extremely bright and sociable”.
Lieutenant. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he returned from abroad and volunteered to defend the state from the invaders. He performed combat missions in the defense of the Motherland in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” regional command of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was always on the front line, and despite being wounded, he always returned to the front.
For his personal services to the state, he was awarded the Presidential decoration “For Defense of Ukraine” and the medal “For Wounding”. He was heroically killed while performing a combat mission.
Pavlo-Voitekh Dombrowski is survived by his wife, two daughters, three sisters and their families, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and her family, extended family, and many friends and comrades-in-arms.
