On Thursday, September 14, Lviv will say goodbye to serviceman Serhiy Stelmakhov, who died at the hands of the Russian occupier while defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 12:15 in the Garrison Church of St. App. Peter and Paul, at 12:45 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Serhii Stelmakhov (13.08.1969-19.10.2022) was born in the city of Kotlas (Russian Federation). Lived in Novopskov, Luhansk region.

Studied at the Support Institution of Education “Novopskov Lyceum of Novopskov Settlement Council of Luhansk Oblast”. He studied at the Michurin Fruit and Vegetable Institute, majoring in Fruit and Viticulture.

He worked as a chief agronomist at the greenhouse and vegetable plant of the Novopskovskiy PM Kramatorsk LVUMG of the Administration of Main Gas Pipelines “Donbastransgaz” JSC “Ukrtransgaz”. He also engaged in private business, had his own apiary.

He learned to play the guitar on his own, composed songs in his spare time and released his own music disc. He was actively involved in sports and made considerable efforts to develop sports in the community, in particular, Greco-Roman wrestling and volleyball.

In 2014, he volunteered to meet the needs of the 24th separate assault battalion “Aidar” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the ranks of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces Reserve Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. Performed combat missions on the territory of the Kherson region.

Serhii Stelmakhov is survived by his father, wife and two daughters
