Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to 22-year-old defender Igor Greben

On Tuesday, October 10, Lviv will say goodbye to defender Ihor Greben, who died defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The serviceman’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Ihor Greben (“Bumblebee”) (11.10.2000-05.10.2023).

He was born in the village of Kolky, Volyn region, in a military family.

Studied at Lyceum No. 18 of the Lviv City Council. Subsequently, he entered the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny. During his studies, he earned the military rank of “lieutenant”, and enjoyed great respect among cadets and teachers.

He was an extremely kind and fair person, ready to help everyone. In his free time, he was actively involved in sports, and received the title of champion of Ukraine in kickboxing.

After completing his studies at the academy, he completed his military service in the anti-terrorist operation zone as part of the 79th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ihor Greben met the invasion of the Russian Federation on the front line. He performed combat missions near the settlements of Siverodonetsk, Lyman, Zarichne, Maryinka and earned the rank of “captain”. He was injured twice, but each time he returned to the front to join his comrades. For his personal courage, he was awarded numerous awards, in particular, the President’s award “For the Defense of Ukraine”.
