Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to two Heroes who defended Ukraine

Tomorrow, December 21, Lviv will say goodbye to two more Heroes. Oleksandr Alimov and Pavlo Shcherbyna died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of Heroes

 

Oleksandr Alimov (October 18, 1984-December 5, 2022) from Lviv.

 

He studied at the Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium of the Lviv City Council of the Lviv Region. Later, he entered the Lviv Polytechnic National University, where he majored in mechanical engineering.

During the last 5 years, he was engaged in programming at EPAM Systems and LaSoft Limited Liability Companies. He was fond of travel, mountain tourism and cross-country skiing.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a volunteer. He fought against the terrorist state as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and earned the rank of junior sergeant.

Oleksandr Alimov is survived by his father, wife and brother.

 

Pavlo Shcherbyna (July 14, 1992-December 15, 2022) from Lviv.

 

He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 84 named after Blessed Yosafata Gordashevska. He practiced karate. Graduated from the Faculty of Geography of the Lviv National University named after I. and Franka.

He attended the military department at the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Peter Sagaidachny.

In peacetime, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activities, later he worked in the field of trade. He was fond of football and mountain tourism.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he fought with the occupiers as part of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign of the operational command “South” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in the offensive on Kherson.

Pavlo Shcherbyna is survived by his parents, two sisters and a nephew.
