Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Oleg Zubrytskyi and Oleg Pelekhaty

On Friday, May 19, Lviv will say goodbye to two Heroes. Oleg Zubrytskyi and Oleg Pelekhaty defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Oleg Zubrytskyi (September 28, 1988-May 16, 2023) from Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 67 of the city of Lviv. Graduated from Lviv State University of Life Safety. After completing his studies, he served in the military.

He was an extremely honest, decent and kind person. In peacetime, he worked at Fujikura Automotiv Ukraine Lviv Limited Liability Company, and also worked in the field of fire safety in the Rivne and Zaporizhzhia regions. He wanted to protect the state from the enemy, so he voluntarily signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he defended the state in the eastern and southern directions as part of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleg Zubrytsky is survived by his mother, his beloved girlfriend and two children.

 

Oleg Pelekhaty (January 25, 1963-May 17, 2023) from Lviv.

He studied at a local children’s sports boarding school. Actively engaged in sports: freestyle wrestling, boxing and sambo, was a multiple champion of Ukraine in the super heavy category.

Throughout his life, he was engaged in national and patriotic activities. Since 1987, he actively opposed the ideology of the USSR, created numerous national-patriotic organizations, helped in the formation of the People’s Movement of Ukraine. At the same time, he was engaged in the publishing of underground literature in the Baltic countries, and was involved in the protection, legalization and exit of representatives of the UGCC.

He was a member of the OUN(b) under the pseudonym Tykhy, one of the co-founders of the Union of Independent Ukrainian Youth. He was responsible for maintaining the security of the participants of the Revolution on Granite, the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. He was a member of several political parties, the head of the Lviv Regional Coordination Center for Frontline Assistance and the Public Organization “Social Protection of the Population and ATO Participants”.

In peacetime, he worked as the head of the Polytechnic Educational and Sports Student Complex. He was an exceptionally loving husband, father, friend and loyal companion.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation joined the ranks of territorial defense. He fought against the Russian invaders as part of the 103rd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleg Pelekhaty is survived by his wife, son, two sisters, father-in-law, mother-in-law and nephews.
