Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Volodymyr Yaremko and Borys Horoshko

On Friday, July 21, Lviv will say goodbye to two Heroes. Volodymyr Yaremko and Borys Horoshko died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral of the Heroes will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 15:30 there will be a city farewell ceremony on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of Heroes

 

Volodymyr Yaremko (April 15, 1986-July 14, 2023) from Lviv.

Studied at secondary comprehensive school #32 and secondary comprehensive school #99 of the city of Lviv. He received his higher education at the Institute of Economics and Management of the Lviv Polytechnic National University, majoring in management.

He worked as a senior manager in the limited liability company “Autochans-PLUS”. In his free time from work, he liked to do beekeeping.

With the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the ranks of the 81st separate airmobile brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. Died while performing combat missions in the eastern direction.

Volodymyr Yaremko is survived by his mother, son, daughter and sister with their family.

 

Borys Horoshko (August 31, 1984-April 5, 2022) is from the city of Vyshnivets, Ternopil region.

Studied at the Novokalynov Secondary School. Received higher education at the Kharkiv Air Force Institute. During the years 2006-2009, he served in the 301st anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and during the years 2009-2022 – in the 12th separate brigade of Army Aviation named after Corporal General Viktor Pavlenko of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the chief of staff and deputy commander of the helicopter squadron of the 12th separate brigade of Army Aviation named after Major-General Viktor Pavlenko of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In his free time, he liked to do skiing, swimming, running and yoga. Since 2014, he has been a participant in hostilities, for which he was awarded the award of the President of Ukraine “For participation in an anti-terrorist operation.”

1st class pilot. Participated in peacekeeping missions of the United Nations in the Republic of Liberia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

For personal courage and selfless actions shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 187/2022 of March 29, 2022, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III degree.

With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he continued to defend the Motherland in the ranks of the 12th separate brigade of Army Aviation named after Colonel-General Viktor Pavlenko of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Died while performing a combat mission in the Air Operation on Azovstal as a crew commander. Presented to be awarded the highest state award of Ukraine – the title “Hero of Ukraine”.

Boris Goroshka is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, brother and sister.
