On Thursday, July 27, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Maksym Shulga, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical reference of the Hero

 

Maxim Shulga (31.03.1979-23.01.2023) native of Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 77 of the city of Lviv with an in-depth study of economics and management. He graduated from the former Military Engineering Institute at the Podilsk State Agrarian and Technical University with a degree in engineer-sapper.

In 2001-2002, he served in the ranks of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine at that time, was the commander of the engineering and technical platoon of a separate engineering and sapper company.

During the last years, he was engaged in private entrepreneurship in Italy. He loved life in all its manifestations, was fond of sports, diving, fishing and mountain tourism. He had an exceptional sense of humor.

On the first day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to go to war. Performed combat missions in the ranks of the 2nd separate Galician brigade of the Western operational territorial unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. He said: “If the enemy is not stopped at the borders of the invasion, he will come to every corner of Ukraine. Who, if not us, will protect our families and our country.”

The Hero is survived by his mother, wife, two children, sister and brother.
