Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Ruslan Pavlyshynets, Dmytro Stepankovskyi, Yuriy Samoilichenko

 

On Monday, 19 August, Lviv will say goodbye to three soldiers. Ruslan Pavlyshynets, Dmytro Stepankovskyi, and Yuriy Samoilichenko defended Ukraine from Russian occupiers. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony for the defenders will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, followed by a city farewell ceremony on Rynok Square at 11:30.

Soldiers Ruslan Pavlyshynets and Dmytro Stepankovskyi will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery, and soldier Yuriy Samoilichenko will be buried at the Ryasnyansky Cemetery.
Biographical information about the defenders

Yuriy Samoilichenko (“Samolet”) (03.10.1998-02.05.2024) Lviv resident.

He studied at secondary school No. 92 in Lviv. While studying at the school, he was actively involved in football at Lokomotiv and Karpaty, and participated in a number of international competitions. In 2015, he entered the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, Department of Practical Psychology. According to his family, “he was always there for his family, supporting them in difficult times, and was a source of joy and pride.”

In May 2021, he joined the National Guard of Ukraine for regular military service. He performed combat missions in the Joint Forces Operation area.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he stood up to defend the state from the invaders. He fought against the invaders as a member of the rifle company of the 45th Regiment named after Oleksandr Krasitskyi of the Western Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was distinguished by his speed and determination, demonstrated exceptional endurance and professionalism in difficult conditions, supporting his comrades in the most difficult moments.

Yuriy Samoilichenko is survived by his two grandparents, mother, uncle and cousin.

Dmytro Stepankovskyi (07.11.1976-30.07.2024) A resident of Lviv.

Dmytro Stepankovskyi (07.11.1976-30.07.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He received his secondary education at a local school. After graduation, he worked as a forwarder at a bread factory.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After completing training at the 233rd training centre, he performed combat missions to protect the territorial integrity and independence of the state in the ranks of the 150th separate mechanised brigade of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He courageously performed combat missions in the Donetsk sector.

Dmytro Stepankovskyi is survived by his son and uncle.

Ruslan Pavlyshynets (31.08.1982-10.08.2024) was born in the town of Novyi Rozdil, Lviv region.

He studied at the Novyi Rozdil Secondary School No. 2 of the Novyi Rozdil City Council, Lviv Oblast. He received his education as an electric welder at Novorozdilsk Vocational School No. 5 (today – State Vocational Educational Institution “Novorozdilsk Professional Lyceum”). Subsequently, he continued his studies at the University of Management and Entrepreneurship in Chełm (Poland). Since childhood, he was fond of football and was a loyal fan of the Karpaty football club.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he defended the state from the Russian invaders. He defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state as a member of the 93rd separate mechanised brigade “Kholodnyi Yar” of the operational command “East” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ruslan Pavlyshynets is survived by his daughter, parents, sister and aunt.
