Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to three defenders who defended Ukraine

On Tuesday, 12 November, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Volodymyr Dumka, Dmytro Arseniev and Oleksandr Fedoriv, who defended Ukraine from Russian occupiers. The City Hall calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

The defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery: Dmytro Arseniev and Volodymyr Dumka – on the grave of the newest Heroes, and Oleksandr Fedoriv – on the grave No. 79.

Biographical information about the defenders

Volodymyr Dumka (11.03.1992-01.07.2024) Lviv resident.

Volodymyr Dumka (11.03.1992-01.07.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the Secondary School No. 20 in Lviv, and later entered the Lesya Ukrainka Lyceum No. 75 of the Lviv City Council. He studied at the Lviv Professional College of Food Technologies and Business of the National University of Food Technologies.

He did his military service in the 11th Shepetivka Air Defence Missile Brigade in Khmelnytskyi region, and later in the 540th Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi Lviv Air Defence Regiment.

After graduation, he worked at the private enterprise Euroflex. In his spare time, he was fond of computer games. According to his family, he was an exceptionally gentle and kind man, the soul of the company.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland from the invaders. After training, he performed combat missions in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

Volodymyr Dumka is survived by his mother, brother, sister-in-law and aunt.

Dmytro Arseniev (30.07.1975-05.11.2024)

Dmytro Arseniev (30.07.1975-05.11.2024) was born in Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Later, the family moved to Irshava, Zakarpattia region.

He studied at Irshava Secondary School No. 2. He graduated from the Svaliava Technical Vocational College of the National University of Food Technologies with a degree in Operation and Repair of Food Production Equipment. He holds a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from Lviv Polytechnic National University.

He was employed at NAK Trading and Industrial Company, a limited liability company. An ardent fan of 90s rock music, according to his family, he was a jack of all trades, always ready to help his friends and family.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he joined the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo, and later performed combat missions as part of the 116th separate mechanised brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Dmytro Arseniev is survived by his mother, wife, two children and a large family.

Oleksandr Fedoriv (31.03.1987-10.11.2024)

Oleksandr Fedoriv (31.03.1987-10.11.2024) was born in Zbarazh, Ternopil region.

He studied at the Ivan Franko Lyceum No. 2 in Zbarazh, Ternopil Oblast. Subsequently, he entered the Lviv Regional Council’s municipal institution “Lviv Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training named after the Heroes of Kruty”. He received his higher education first at the Military Academy in Odesa, and then at the National Army Academy named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi.

In 2004, he took the oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine. At first, he served as a platoon commander and driving instructor in Starychi, and later became a course officer. From 2012 to 2014, he worked as a drill officer in the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Air Force Academy.

During 2014-2016, he performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone in the 42nd Battalion of the 57th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade named after Kosh Ataman Kostiantyn Hordiienko of the Operational Command “South” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2019, he returned to the academy and worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of Tactics of the Faculty of Combat Use of Forces. In his spare time, he was fond of car repairs and dreamed of opening his own service station. According to his family, he was an exceptionally fair, correct and demanding person.

Oleksandr Fedoriv is survived by his father, wife, 8-year-old daughter and sister.
