Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Taras Osmyakevych, Hennadiy Paliyevets and Oleksandr Holubkov

On Thursday, May 2, Lviv will say goodbye to three soldiers. Taras Osmyakevych, Hennadiy Paliyevets, and Oleksandr Holubkov were killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

In the morning, at 09:30, a memorial service for Oleksandr Holubkov will be held in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord of the UGCC (81 Shyroka St.).

The funeral service for the defenders Oleksandr Holubkov, Taras Osmyakevych and Hennadiy Paliyevets will begin at 11:00 in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The soldiers will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.

Biographical information about the defenders

Taras Osmyakevych (28.02.2000-27.04.2024) Lviv resident.

He studied at the Lviv Gymnasium “Prestige” with advanced study of foreign languages. In his spare time, he was actively engaged in parkour. In 2015-2019, he studied at the Ecological College of Lviv National Agrarian University (today – Lviv Professional College of Lviv National University of Environmental Management). Later, he studied at Lviv National University of Economics by correspondence.

He was fond of hand-to-hand combat, BMX racing, and devoted time to off-road rallies in the Carpathians. According to his family, he was “an exceptionally honest, kind and sunny person.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend his homeland from the invaders as part of the 2nd separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine. In January 2023, he was transferred to the 4th Operational Brigade named after the Hero of Ukraine, Sergeant Serhiy Mykhalchuk (Rubizh Rapid Response Brigade). He performed combat missions in the Donetsk region. For personal courage, he was awarded the “For Rank” badge.

Taras Osmyakevych is survived by his mother, grandfather and fiancée.

He studied at the secondary school №27 in Lviv named after the hero of the Heavenly Hundred Yurii Verbytskyi. He received vocational education in Lviv.

He was engaged in repair work. In his free time, he was fond of drawing, and also skillfully painted icons. According to his family, he was an extremely “kind and calm person.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, despite his lack of combat experience, he voluntarily defended his homeland from the invaders. He performed tasks to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state as part of the 16th separate motorized infantry battalion of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi of the operational command “North” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended the state in the Donetsk region.

Hennadii Paliievets is survived by his wife and five children.

He studied at the secondary school No. 90 in Lviv, and after graduating from the 9th grade he entered a local evening school.

He worked in the construction industry. He was an extremely cheerful person, always cheered up his surroundings and never lost heart. He loved animals.

In August 2023, he stood up to defend his homeland from Russian invaders. He fought against the enemy first in Kharkiv region, and recently – in Donetsk region as a member of the 68th separate hunting brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleksandr Holubkov is survived by his grandmother, mother, sister, two daughters and an uncle.
