On Thursday, 22 August, Lviv will say goodbye to three soldiers. Petro Mylyan, Yuriy Shevchuk, and Ivan Pushkaryov were killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.
The mayor’s office calls on residents to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.
The funeral service for the defenders will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, followed by a city farewell ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Rynok Square.
The soldiers will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
Biographical information about the defenders
Petro Myliian (21.07.1969-14.08.2024) Born in the village of Turynka, Lviv region. He lived in Lviv.
He studied at the General Education Special Boarding School №6 of I-II levels. Later, he mastered the profession of a painter at Vocational School No. 17 (today – State Educational Institution “Stavropigiiske Higher Vocational School of Lviv”). Later, he served in the ranks of the Internal Troops.
He worked for the Rainbow Limited Liability Company and loved his job. He was fond of biathlon and took part in a number of national competitions.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the 125th separate territorial defence brigade of the regional directorate “West” of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the state from the invaders. He fought against the invaders on the eastern frontline.
Petro Mylian is survived by his wife, two sons, three brothers and a sister.
Yurii Shevchuk (09.06.1991-18.08.2024) was born in the village of Mykolaivka, Kherson region.
He studied at Oleksandrivka secondary school. In 2012, he graduated from the former Kherson Professional Lyceum with a degree in car repair mechanics.
After graduation, he first worked as a ship painter and later started a family business. In his spare time, he was fond of fishing.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Yuriy Shevchuk’s family was forced to leave their home and move to Lviv. Here he joined the National Guard of Ukraine. He performed combat missions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk areas as part of the 14th Ivan Bohun Operational Brigade (“Chervona Kalyna”) of the Western Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Yuriy Shevchuk is survived by his parents, wife, two sons, two brothers and a sister.
Ivan Pushkariov (17.06.1980-16.08.2024) was born in the village of Rakhynia, Frankivsk region.
He studied at the Rakhynia Gymnasium of the Dolyna City Council. Immediately after graduation, he began working in industrial production. According to his family, he was “an exceptionally cheerful person, extremely hardworking and sincere; he adored his family and was always ready to help”.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend the state from the occupiers. He performed combat missions to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland as part of the 68th separate Oleksa Dovbush hunting brigade of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ivan Pushkariov is survived by his mother, wife, two children, brother and sister.
