Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to three defenders – Serhiy Martynyak, Myron Hirnyak, Ruslan Paromov died

On Thursday, October 19, Lviv will say goodbye to three servicemen. Serhiy Martynyak, Myron Hirnyak, Ruslan Paromov died at the hands of the Russian occupier while defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The servicemen’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of defenders

 

Serhii Martyniak (“John”) (September 26, 1984-October 12, 2023). A native of Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 95. After obtaining a professional and technical education, he entered the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”.

After completing his studies, he first worked in the trade sector, later he held the position of master tire fitter. He was fond of cars, loved dogs, and especially his pet Vicky. He was a real “soul of the company”: always optimistic and smiling. Serhii Martyniak’s motto was “Let’s break through!”.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he actively helped the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, despite his lack of military experience, he stood up to defend the Motherland from the invaders. After completing the training, he performed combat missions as part of the 77th separate airmobile brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Serhiy Martyniak is survived by his grandmother, parents, sister, brother-in-law and nephews.

 

Ruslan Paromov (June 22, 1977-October 11, 2023). A native of Buchmany village, Zhytomyr region.

At the age of 13, he moved to the village of Stary Aidar in the Luhansk region, where he received general secondary education at a local school.

After marriage, he engaged in private business, had his own apiary. In his spare time he was fond of fishing; was an exceptionally kind person and a loving family man.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ruslan Paromov’s family moved to Lviv. Despite the lack of combat experience, he became a member of the 128th Separate Transcarpathian Mountain Assault Brigade of the Operational Command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland from the Russian invaders. Defended the state on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Ruslan Paromov is survived by his wife, two daughters and close friends.

 

Myron Hirnyak (11.06.1976-11.10.2023). A native of the village of Lana, Lviv region.

He studied at the Ulyana Kravchenko Bibra Support Lyceum of the Bibra City Council. Subsequently, he obtained a professional and technical education at the Lviv Higher Vocational School of Household Services. After completing his studies, he served in the military in the village of Desna and in the city of Alchevsk.

He worked in the field of outdoor advertising production, then at Barkom Limited Liability Company. In his free time, he was fond of fishing.

In 2020, on his own initiative, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and performed combat missions in the area of the anti-terrorist operation as part of the 128th Separate Transcarpathian Mountain Assault Brigade of the Operational Command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He met the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the front line, defended the state in the eastern and southern directions.

Myron Hirnyak is survived by his parents, wife, two daughters and a brother with his family.
