Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Andriy Lysak, Serhiy Kulay, Danylo Lukashchuk

On Thursday, 16 May, Lviv will say goodbye to three soldiers. Andriy Lysak, Serhiy Kulay, and Danylo Lukashchuk were killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service for the defenders will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

He studied at Lyceum No. 38 of the Lviv City Council. He graduated with a degree in Economics from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

During 1998-2000, he served in the military service as a member of the Separate Logistics Battalion of the 1st Division of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Upon his return, he was engaged in entrepreneurship in the field of construction and design. According to his family, Andrii Lysak “was a very sociable, cheerful and energetic, caring husband and father. He loved life, his native Lviv and Ukraine”.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the territorial defence. In March 2022, he joined the 45th Regiment named after Oleksandr Krasitskyi of the Western Operational and Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine to defend the state.

Andrii Lysak is survived by his parents, wife, three children and a brother.

He studied at Lyceum №45 of Lviv City Council. He graduated from the Lviv Regional Council’s Lviv Professional College of Culture and Arts. After graduation, he served in the Internal Troops in Odesa.

In peacetime, he was engaged in ballroom dancing and performed as a member of the Estet dance group. During the last period, he worked at the National Ukrainian Drama Theatre named after Maria Zankovetska.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he defended the state as part of the 4th Operational Brigade named after the Hero of Ukraine, Sergeant Serhii Mykhalchuk of the National Guard of Ukraine. He fought against the occupiers in Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

Serhii Kulai is survived by his parents.

Danylo Lukashchuk (08.10.1997-11.05.2024) A resident of Lviv.

He studied at the Lviv Physics and Mathematics Boarding Lyceum at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Later he entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. He also graduated from the Oleksa Novakivskyi Lviv Art School.

After graduation, he worked as a system administrator at a number of companies in Lviv. He was an ardent fan of the Karpaty football club, loved cars and cycling. According to his family, he was extremely “honest, kind and uncompromising”.

At the end of February 2022, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his homeland from Russian invaders. From 2023, he performed combat missions to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in the eastern direction as part of the 420th Infantry Battalion. Subsequently, he fought against the occupiers in the ranks of the 14th separate regiment of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For personal courage, he was awarded the Golden Cross, an honorary badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Danylo Lukashchuk is survived by his two grandmothers, parents, two brothers and girlfriend.
