Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to two Heroes who defended Ukraine

Tomorrow, October 4, Lviv will say goodbye to two more Heroes. Oleg Pidhorodetskyi and Nazariy Klimkiv died in the battle with the Russian invaders. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, military servicemen will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery. The City Hall urges you to join the farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertaining events and celebrations during this time.

The city’s farewell ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Rynok Square.

Route of the funeral procession: Garrison Church of St. App. Peter and Paul UGCC (Tetralna Street, 11) – sq. Cathedral – square Rynok (city farewell ceremony) – str. Ruska – st. Basement – st. Volodymyr Vinnichenko – square Soborna – st. Pekarska – st. Shimzeriv – st. Mechnikova – Lychakiv cemetery.

Blue and yellow flags with a mourning ribbon will be hung on the buildings along the route of the columns.

Biographical references of Heroes

Oleg Pidhorodetskyi (February 18, 1982-September 9, 2022) from Lviv.

He studied at secondary comprehensive school No. 63 in the city of Lviv. In 2004, he graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University, majoring in management. After that, he worked as a marketer at the Niko-Zahid limited liability company and at the Maximus-Plus private enterprise.

With the beginning of Russian aggression, he defended the territorial integrity of the state in the east. Since 2016, he continued his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under contract.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he defended Ukraine in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the “West” operational command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleg Pidhorodetsky is survived by his mother, brother, grandmother, aunt and nephews.

By the way, Oleg’s great-grandfather was shot by NKVD special forces.

Nazarii Klymkiv (May 29, 1989-September 26, 2022) from Lviv.

He studied in Lviv at Lyceum No. 15, later at the communal institution of the Lviv Regional Council “Vynnykivsk General Educational Sanatorium School of Grades I-III”. He graduated from the separate structural unit “Automotive and Road Professional College of the Lviv Polytechnic National University”.

After completing his studies, he joined the military service. In peacetime, he worked in the Shevchenkiv district police department, then joined the National Guard of Ukraine. At one time, he also built a career in the former Zhovkiv district military commissariat. Later, he was transferred to the United Military Commissariat of the Lychakiv, Shevchenkiv and Zaliznych districts of the city of Lviv.

Since 2014, he fought against the Russian occupiers in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he defended the country as part of the 103rd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Nazarii Klimkiv is survived by his mother, wife and 2-month-old son.
