Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to three fallen Heroes – Roman Skalskyi, Serhiy Bulygin, Oleksiy Lyon

On Monday, January 16, Lviv will say goodbye to three Heroes. Roman Skalskyi, Serhiy Bulygin and Oleksiy Lyon died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of St. App. Peter and Paul, and at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of Heroes

Roman Skalskyi (November 29, 1996-January 5, 2023). A native of Lviv.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 63 of the city of Lviv, later at the Lviv Secondary School of Grades I-III No. 82 of the Lviv City Council of the Lviv Region.

He graduated from the Technical and Economic College of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. In 2019, he received a master’s degree in “Construction and Civil Engineering”. He loved Ukrainian music and jazz.

Before the war, he worked as a regional representative in the limited liability company “Klimhaus Trade”.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During his service, he earned the rank of “junior sergeant” and received the position of unit commander. His brothers remember that he was “very intelligent, balanced and kept calm even in critical situations.”

Roman Skalsky himself said: “We have not surrendered a single meter of our land. It was difficult for us, but we will never be ashamed.”

The Hero is survived by his parents, wife, brother, two sisters and nephews.

Serhiy Bulygin (October 18, 1978-January 4, 2023). A native of Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum No. 51 named after Ivan Franko of the Lviv City Council. Graduated from the Lviv Higher Vocational School of Information and Computer Technologies (former SPTU No. 26 of the city of Lviv).

After completing his studies, he completed his military service as a signalman in Odesa.

In peacetime, he was involved in the production of furniture at a local private enterprise. He was fond of sports, growing flowers and making acoustic instruments.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he came to the defense of the Motherland. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the ranks of the 46th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Serhii Bulygin is survived by his parents, son, daughter, sister and aunt.

Oleksii Lyon (16.12.1973-05.01.2023). A native of Rubizhne, Luhansk region.

He studied at the Rubizhan specialized school of the I-III degrees No. 2 of the Rubizhan city council of the Luhansk region. He was educated at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.

Later, he served in the military in Shepetivka, Khmelnytskyi region.

He held the position of a 4th grade apparatus engineer at the Limited Liability Company “Zorya Scientific and Production Enterprise” in Rubizhny. He adored fishing, collected retro bicycles in his spare time.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he fought against the Russian invaders as part of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleksiy Leon is survived by his wife, daughter, stepdaughter, sister and brother.
